More Detail

14+ Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Welcome. I'm Michael Berry. I'm a registered psychotherapeutic counsellor - I support individuals and couples with their mental health. I have private sector experience as a psychotherapeutic counsellor. My interest involves relationship problems, and the specific problems experienced by men, transgender people and women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment session helps you to see if you are comfortable with me, discuss what worries you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and determine if therapy could help you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an introductory assessment session in Ivychurch, Romney Marsh.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy focuses on how your thoughts (cognitions) affect your feelings and behaviour. It identifies and addresses unhelpful ideas that perpetuate the issues you experience. The aim of CBT is for you to experience healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates CBT for anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bipolar disorder, bulimia nervosa, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia and self harm.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You determine which matter regarding your early years and/or adulthood you discuss. The aim of counselling is to enable you to speak about a problem and find a way forward which is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Integrative Therapy

Integrative therapy combines therapeutic approaches to fit your preferences and the problems you experience. It considers your personal experience and options. An aim of integrative therapy is to help you develop your self-awareness.
