What to Expect

An introductory assessment meeting helps you to see if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what worries you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and decide if therapy may help you. Please use a contact option on the right to book an introductory assessment session in Chepstow.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on how your thoughts (cognitions) affect your feelings and actions. It recognises and addresses negative ideas that maintain the problems you encounter. The aim of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to have healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends cognitive behavioural therapy for anorexia nervosa, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, self harm and social anxiety disorder.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You determine what issue regarding your childhood or adulthood you discuss. An aim of counselling is to help you to talk about a difficulty and find a way forward which is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.
