More Detail

1 Years Post-Registration Experience

Hi. I'm Jess Bennion. I'm a registered counsellor - I support individuals with their emotional wellbeing. I have private and voluntary sector experience as a counsellor. My focus includes abuse and bereavement, and the specific issues experienced by women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment session enables you to see if you feel comfortable with me, share what concerns you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and decide if therapy could help you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an introductory assessment session in Coalpit Heath, Bristol.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on how your thoughts affect your emotions and behaviour. It identifies and addresses unhelpful thoughts which maintain the problems you experience. The objective of CBT is for you to have healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates CBT for bipolar disorder, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self harm and social anxiety disorder.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide which issue concerning your childhood and/or adult life you explore. An aim of counselling is to help you to talk about a difficulty and discover a way forward that is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.
