15+ Years Post-Chartership Experience

Hi. I am Monika Friedrich. I'm a chartered and registered clinical psychologist - I help individuals with their psychological wellbeing. I have private, public and voluntary sector experience as a clinical psychologist. My interest involves depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and relationship problems, and the particular difficulties experienced by mixed ethnic background men, transgender people and women.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment appointment helps you to see if you feel comfortable with me, share what worries you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and decide if therapy could help you. Please use a contact option on the right to book a preliminary assessment meeting in Seaton.

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR directs your eye movements to affect how your brain processes information. The technique attempts to reprocess your locked traumatic memories. The aim of EMDR is to desensitise your upsetting memories.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends eye movement desensitisation reprocessing for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy centres on the unconscious meaning of the issues you encounter. It facilitates you in becoming aware of aspects of your inner dynamics. Psychodynamic therapy aims to enhance your self-understanding to give you choices.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates psychodynamic therapy for anorexia nervosa, depression, self harm and social anxiety disorder.

Psychology is interested in you and your mind, feelings and behaviour. It offers you psychological treatments and mental wellbeing support. The objective of psychological therapy is to help you ease symptoms.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the difficulties you confront. It considers your thoughts, emotions and significant moments in your history. Psychotherapy aims to help you develop or discover suitable ways of coping.
