More Detail

Over 7 Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Hi. I am Susan. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I help individuals with their emotional health. I have private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist.

What to Expect

A preliminary assessment appointment helps you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, share what concerns you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and assess if therapy could benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange a preliminary assessment meeting in Tonbridge.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy concentrates on how your thoughts (cognitions) influence your feelings and behaviour. It recognises and challenges negative thoughts which perpetuate the issues you encounter. The aim of CBT is for you to have healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates CBT for depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and panic disorder.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide which issue concerning your early years or adult life you discuss. The aim of counselling is to help you to talk about a difficulty and find a way forward which is right for you.

Psychoanalytic Therapy

Psychoanalytic therapy focuses on the unconscious causes of the issues you encounter. It fosters your consciousness of parts of your unconscious. The objective of psychoanalytic therapy is for you to attain personal insight and use it if you wish to.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy focuses on the unconscious meaning of the issues you encounter. It facilitates you in being aware of aspects of your inner dynamics. Psychodynamic therapy aims to enhance your self-comprehension to give you options.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates psychodynamic therapy for depression.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the difficulties you confront. It explores your thoughts, feelings and significant events in your history. Psychotherapy aims to help you develop or find suitable methods of coping.
