More Detail

Over 16 Years Post-Registration Experience

Hi. I'm Fran Hornsby. I'm a registered counsellor - I support individuals and couples with their mental health. I hold private sector experience as a counsellor.

What to Expect

A preliminary assessment meeting enables you to see if you are comfortable with me, share what worries you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and determine if therapy may assist you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an introductory assessment meeting in Kings Langley.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on how your thoughts (cognitions) affect your feelings and actions. It recognises and challenges negative ideas which perpetuate the problems you encounter. The aim of CBT is for you to experience healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates cognitive behavioural therapy for alcohol dependence, anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bipolar disorder, bulimia nervosa, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) (ME), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia, self harm and substance dependence.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You decide what issue concerning your early years or adult life you discuss. An objective of counselling is to enable you to speak about a difficulty and find a way forward which is right for you.

Clinical Qualifications

  • British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Registered Counsellor since January 2001
  • Advanced Diploma

I abide by the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
