More Detail

Over 4 Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Welcome. I'm Deborah Emery. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I assist individuals, couples and families with their psychological wellbeing. I have private, public and voluntary sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My interest involves abuse, anger, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and self esteem, as well as the particular issues experienced by gay and mixed ethnic background men and women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment session helps you to see if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what concerns you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and assess if therapy may help you. Please use a contact option on the right to book a preliminary assessment session in Barking, Dagenham or Romford.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on how your thoughts (cognitions) affect your feelings and behaviour. It identifies and challenges negative thoughts which maintain the problems you experience. The aim of CBT is for you to experience healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests cognitive behavioural therapy for alcohol dependence, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bipolar disorder, bulimia nervosa, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) (ME), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia, self harm and substance dependence.

Counselling

(1 Review)
Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide what issue concerning your childhood and/or adulthood you discuss. The objective of counselling is to help you to speak about a problem and discover a way forward that is appropriate for you.

Humanistic Therapy

Humanistic therapy focuses on appreciating you. It considers you as a whole person and emphasises your personal growth. Humanistic therapy seeks to help you recognise your freedom.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the difficulties you face. It considers your thoughts, feelings and relevant moments in your history. Psychotherapy aims to help you change or discover suitable methods of managing.

Easy to talk toHelpfulnessValue for Money

"Deborah was very compassionate and wasn't judgemental of me, she helped me develop so much confidence in myself to de-mistify the mess I felt in my heart and head, she has helped me overcome a trauma in my life that I thought would always hold me back. If you're ready to look within yourself and face the problems you're dealing with in your own way and at your own pace, Deborah will be there to support you and guide you through your healing. I will always appreciate her help and I am glad that I feel like I have someone to turn to who can help me professionally. Thank you Deborah."
