More Detail

21 Years Post-Registration Experience

Hello. I am Bernard Widlake. I'm a registered psychotherapist - I help individuals with their emotional wellbeing. I hold private sector experience as a psychotherapist. My interest includes abuse, anger, bereavement and Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), and the specific difficulties faced by men and women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment meeting allows you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, share what concerns you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and determine if therapy may assist you. Please use a contact option on the right to book an initial assessment appointment in South Brent or Peverell, Plymouth.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You determine what issue regarding your childhood or adulthood you discuss. The objective of counselling is to enable you to talk about a problem and discover a way forward which is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you confront. It considers your thoughts, emotions and relevant events in your history. Psychotherapy aims to help you change or discover appropriate ways of coping.
