Clinical Experience in Counselling

Psychodynamic Counselling to individuals and couples. Twelve years experience within social work and six years as a counsellor within NHS Lanarkshire and Glasgow, private practice and other voluntary agencies. I provide a safe and reliable environment where emotional issues can be addressed and understood, and supported within the counsellor-client relationship.

What to Expect during Counselling

Approach is Psychodynamic in orientation, thus drawing on theories developed from Freud i.e. unconscious motives and drives mould our behaviour towards self and others, thus a tendency to replicate past experiences with each new relationship or situation encountered. The dynamics of the counsellor-client relationship is pivotal in understanding the client's internal world and hidden patterns of relating.
