Clinical Experience in Counselling

I am a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited Counsellor. I use humanistic and psychodynamic approaches in my client work. My clinical experience includes working for the NHS in the psychotherapy and counselling department of King's College Hospital in London where I offered short and medium length therapy to patients, their friends and families. I also worked for over three years with a bereavement service in north London. In my private counselling practice I create a safe, inviting environment in which my clients lead the sessions with whatever they choose to bring. I have a broad clinical experience in one-to-one therapy.

What to Expect during Counselling

Our first session is called an assessment session. This will last just under an hour and will give you a sense of what working with me might feel like. You can tell me what has brought you to counselling and I will share with you how I feel we might be able to work together. There is no commitment or obligation to continue after this session.

If we do decide to work together - we will find a regular weekly time when you can come to counselling and I will explain about payment, cancellations and other details of our working contract. I will also commit to you to be as available as possible for our sessions as well as giving you as much notice as possible about any changes with our contract and scheduled sessions.

By working psychodynamically I will be looking at how your early experiences in life might be affecting your current situation and relationships. And how these experiences may be present in our work together too.

The humanistic side of my approach will, I hope, create a safe environment for us to work together. I will be thinking about the 'here and now' of our working together and offering a reparative relationship through which you can explore whatever issues have brought you to me.

You decide what you'd like to bring to our sessions and I will follow your lead on what you need to talk about.

Clinical Qualifications in Counselling

  • British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited (MBACP Accred) Counsellor since 2011
  • Advanced Diploma Counselling - Mary Ward Centre London (UK) 2008

I am committed to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in Counselling. I abide by the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Additional Information

I create a safe and welcoming environment in my therapy room in central London. I hope to open up a therapeutic space where anything, anything at all can be talked about, shared and thought about. Our work, of course, is strictly confidential. Clients often find this sense of safety and freedom as an important part of their therapy.

I have a deep and on going commitment to my client's well being and emotional health.

If you have a question not answered on my web profile, please contact me via the green Contact Me button.
