What to Expect

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) suggests CBT for
  • Bipolar
  • Body Dysmorphia
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • OCD
  • Panic
  • PTSD
  • Social Anxiety
Cognitive behavioural therapy concentrates on how your thoughts influence your emotions and behaviour. It recognises and challenges negative ideas that maintain the issues you experience. The aim of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to have healthier thoughts and feelings.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical behaviour therapy considers your perception of your ideas and feelings. It encourages your finding of useful responses to your life. DBT hopes to help you enhance and maintain your coping abilities.

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)

NICE suggests EMDR for PTSD.

EMDR guides your eye motions to stimulate how your brain processes information. The procedure attempts to reprocess your locked distressing memories. The objective of EMDR is to desensitise your painful memories.

Psychodynamic Therapy

NICE suggests psychodynamic therapy for
  • Depression
  • Social Anxiety
Psychodynamic therapy focuses on the unconscious causes of the issues you encounter. It facilitates you in becoming aware of parts of your internal dynamics. Psychodynamic therapy aims to increase your self-understanding to give you choices.

Psychology is interested in you and your mind, feelings and actions. It offers you psychological interventions and mental wellbeing support. An intention of psychological therapy is to help you ease symptoms.
