More Detail

3+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Hello. I'm Yvonne. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I support individuals and couples with their psychological wellbeing. I have private, public and voluntary sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My interest includes abuse and depression, as well as the particular challenges experienced by men, transgender people and women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment session allows you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what worries you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and decide if therapy could benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an initial assessment session in Pinner.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy focuses on how your thoughts (cognitions) affect your feelings and behaviour. It identifies and challenges negative ideas that perpetuate the problems you encounter. The aim of CBT is for you to have healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests CBT for alcohol dependence, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self harm and social anxiety disorder.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You determine which issue regarding your childhood and/or adult life you discuss. An aim of counselling is to help you to speak about a problem and discover a solution which is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the difficulties you confront. It considers your ideas, emotions and significant moments in your history. Psychotherapy intends to help you develop or discover appropriate ways of managing.
