More Detail

9+ Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Hello. I am Wendy. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I support individuals and couples with their emotional wellbeing. I hold private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My focus includes relationship problems, as well as the specific problems experienced by women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment appointment allows you to see if you are comfortable with me, share what troubles you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and determine if therapy may benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange a preliminary assessment appointment in Smithills, Bolton.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT concentrates on how your thoughts (cognitions) influence your feelings and behaviour. It recognises and challenges unhelpful thoughts which perpetuate the issues you encounter. The objective of CBT is for you to experience healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests cognitive behavioural therapy for anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bulimia nervosa, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and self harm.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide what issue regarding your early years or adulthood you discuss. An objective of counselling is to enable you to talk about a problem and discover a way forward which is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR guides your eye movements to affect how your mind processes data. The technique attempts to reprocess your frozen traumatic memories. The aim of eye movement desensitisation reprocessing is to desensitise your upsetting memories.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends eye movement desensitisation reprocessing for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the difficulties you face. It explores your thoughts, feelings and significant events in your history. Psychotherapy intends to help you change or discover suitable methods of managing.
