More Detail

11+ Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Welcome. I am Tony Freeman. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I help individuals and couples with their psychological health. I hold private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My interest includes Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder and sleep problems, as well as the specific challenges faced by bisexual, business and gay men, transgender people and women.

What to Expect

A preliminary assessment appointment enables you to see if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what troubles you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and assess if therapy could help you. Please use a contact option on the right to book an initial assessment appointment in Marylebone, London, Golders Green, London, Bloomsbury, London or Canary Wharf, London.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy focuses on how your thoughts (cognitions) influence your emotions and behaviour. It identifies and challenges unhelpful ideas that maintain the problems you encounter. The aim of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to have healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends CBT for alcohol dependence, anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bipolar disorder, bulimia nervosa, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia and self harm.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You determine which matter concerning your childhood and/or adulthood you explore. An aim of counselling is to help you to speak about a difficulty and find a solution which is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR directs your eye motions to stimulate how your mind processes data. The procedure endeavours to reprocess your locked traumatic recollections. The aim of eye movement desensitisation reprocessing is to desensitise your painful memories.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates eye movement desensitisation reprocessing for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you face. It explores your thoughts, feelings and significant events in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you develop or find appropriate ways of managing.
