2+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Hello. I'm Sophy. I'm a registered counsellor - I support individuals and couples with their mental wellbeing. I hold private sector experience as a counsellor. My focus includes stress, as well as the particular challenges faced by men.

What to Expect

An initial assessment session enables you to see if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what worries you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and decide if therapy could help you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an initial assessment session in Aston Clinton, Aylesbury.

Client Centred Therapy

Client centred therapy concentrates on appreciating and accepting you. It encourages your openness around the worries you encounter. Client centred therapy aims to help you discover your own answers.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT concentrates on how your thoughts affect your feelings and actions. It identifies and challenges negative thoughts which perpetuate the issues you experience. The objective of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to have healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends CBT for alcohol dependence, bipolar disorder, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self harm and social anxiety disorder.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide what issue concerning your childhood and/or adult life you explore. The aim of counselling is to enable you to talk about a problem and discover a solution that is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Humanistic Therapy

Humanistic therapy focuses on valuing you. It considers you as a whole human being and emphasises your unique development. Humanistic therapy aims to help you realise your freedom.

Integrative Therapy

Integrative therapy combines therapies to suit your needs and the problems you experience. It considers your subjective experience and options. The aim of integrative therapy is to help you develop your self-understanding.

Transactional Analysis (TA)

TA centres on the modes you use to communicate with yourself and others. It considers the impact of your pre-conscious life plan and how to enhance it. TA aims to help you acknowledge your value and ability to grow.
