8+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Welcome. I am Sissel Marti. I'm a registered psychotherapist - I help individuals and couples with their psychological wellbeing. I have private, public and voluntary sector experience as a psychotherapist. My interest includes anger, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), relationship problems and stress, as well as the particular difficulties faced by men and women.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment session allows you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what concerns you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and decide if therapy could benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange a preliminary assessment session in Haslemere.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy focuses on how your thoughts affect your feelings and actions. It recognises and challenges unhelpful thoughts that maintain the problems you experience. The objective of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to experience healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates cognitive behavioural therapy for anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bipolar disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), bulimia nervosa, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and self harm.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You determine which issue concerning your childhood and/or adult life you discuss. An aim of counselling is to help you to speak about a problem and discover a way forward which is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy focuses on the unconscious causes of the issues you encounter. It facilitates you in becoming aware of aspects of your internal dynamics. Psychodynamic therapy seeks to enhance your self-comprehension to give you choices.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates psychodynamic therapy for anorexia nervosa, depression and self harm.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the problems you confront. It considers your thoughts, emotions and relevant events in your life. Psychotherapy intends to help you develop or discover suitable methods of coping.
