More Detail

28+ Years Post-Chartership Experience

Hi. I am Sheila. I'm a chartered and registered clinical psychologist - I support individuals with their mental wellbeing. I hold private and public sector experience as a clinical psychologist. My interest includes abuse, relationship problems and self esteem, as well as the particular difficulties experienced by women.

What to Expect

A preliminary assessment session allows you to see if you feel comfortable with me, share what concerns you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and decide if therapy may help you. Please use a contact option on the right to book an initial assessment session in Minehead.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT concentrates on how your thoughts (cognitions) influence your feelings and actions. It recognises and challenges negative thoughts which maintain the problems you experience. The objective of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to have healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates cognitive behavioural therapy for depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and self harm.

Psychology is interested in you and your thoughts, emotions and actions. It offers you psychological interventions and mental wellbeing support. An intention of psychological therapies is to help you ease symptoms.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you face. It considers your ideas, feelings and relevant events in your life. Psychotherapy intends to help you develop or discover suitable ways of coping.
