More Detail

12+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Hello. I'm Sharon. I'm a registered counsellor - I support individuals and couples with their psychological wellbeing. I have private and voluntary sector experience as a counsellor. My focus includes depression and relationship problems, and the particular issues encountered by men and women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment meeting allows you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, share what troubles you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and decide if therapy could benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an initial assessment appointment in Walton on Thames.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy focuses on how your thoughts (cognitions) affect your feelings and behaviour. It identifies and challenges unhelpful thoughts which maintain the issues you encounter. The objective of CBT is for you to experience healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends CBT for depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self harm and social anxiety disorder.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You determine which issue regarding your early years and/or adult life you discuss. The aim of counselling is to help you to talk about a difficulty and discover a solution that is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.
