More Detail

4+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Welcome. I'm Sarah Saatzer. I'm a registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I support individuals and couples with their emotional wellbeing. I hold private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My interest includes self esteem, and the particular challenges encountered by mixed ethnic background women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment meeting helps you to see if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what worries you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and decide if therapy could help you. Please use a contact option on the right to book a preliminary assessment session in Wincobank, Sheffield or Sheffield.

Client Centred Therapy

Client centred therapy focuses on appreciating and accepting you. It facilitates your openness around the worries you encounter. Client centred therapy aims to help you discover your own answers.

Counselling

(2 Reviews)
Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide what issue concerning your early years and/or adult life you explore. An objective of counselling is to enable you to speak about a problem and find a solution that is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the difficulties you confront. It explores your thoughts, emotions and relevant events in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you develop or find suitable methods of coping.

Thoughts on Mental Health

Sometimes you may take drugs such as alcohol to numb the feelings of depression. It is a temporary solution though, and exacerbates the problem; alcohol and some drugs physically cause depression because of what they do to the chemicals in the brain. If you notice that you are feeling low more often and you are using a drug like alcohol, this is a good time to find alternatives which boost your mood, like exercise, a chat with a friend, or doing something that interests you. It is good if you can make this connection early, as it gets harder to make changes the more the drug affects your brain.

Easy to talk toHelpfulnessValue for Money

"Sarah was very helpful and patient throughout our therapy sessions. Me and my fiancé did couples counselling and feel as through it has enabled us to grow as a couple. The approach used, helped us find strategies to how to communicate with one another. I found Sarah never passed judgement and provided positive feedback."

Easy to talk toHelpfulnessValue for Money

"Sarah listened but also talked which was great as I was worried I would do all the talking. She understood why I was having problems, and interpreted my feelings. She also allowed me to "forgive myself", and not be too hard, which in turn stopped me feeling so disheartened. She gave of herself as well, which really helped. I felt she was a fellow human being with her own problems, rather than a faceless professional. If I need help again I would certainly turn to Sarah."
