7+ Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Hello. I am Sarah Lacey. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist and an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) psychotherapist - I support individuals with their mental wellbeing. I hold private and public sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist and a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) psychotherapist. My interest includes bereavement, depression and panic disorder, and the specific difficulties experienced by men and women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment session enables you to see if you feel comfortable with me, share what troubles you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and decide if therapy may assist you. Please use a contact option on the right to book an initial assessment session in Portglenone, Ballymena or Portrush.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on how your thoughts (cognitions) affect your feelings and actions. It recognises and challenges negative ideas that perpetuate the issues you experience. The aim of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to experience healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests cognitive behavioural therapy for depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self harm and social anxiety disorder.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide which issue concerning your childhood or adult life you explore. An aim of counselling is to help you to speak about a problem and discover a way forward which is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the difficulties you face. It considers your thoughts, feelings and relevant events in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you develop or discover suitable methods of coping.
