More Detail

18+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Welcome. I'm Sandra Harvey. I'm a registered psychotherapist - I support individuals and couples with their psychological wellbeing. I have private and public sector experience as a psychotherapist. My focus includes depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and relationship problems, as well as the specific difficulties faced by women.

What to Expect

A preliminary assessment appointment enables you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what concerns you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and decide if therapy may help you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an introductory assessment session in Oswestry.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on how your thoughts influence your emotions and behaviour. It recognises and challenges negative ideas which perpetuate the issues you experience. The aim of CBT is for you to have healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates cognitive behavioural therapy for depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), panic disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide which matter concerning your early years or adult life you discuss. An objective of counselling is to enable you to talk about a difficulty and discover a solution which is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR guides your eye motions to affect how your mind processes information. The technique attempts to reprocess your locked traumatic memories. The objective of EMDR is to desensitise your painful memories.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests EMDR for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you confront. It explores your ideas, emotions and relevant events in your history. Psychotherapy intends to help you develop or discover appropriate ways of managing.
