23+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Hello. I am Philip. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I help individuals and couples with their psychological wellbeing. I have private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My focus includes relationship problems, and the specific problems faced by women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment appointment helps you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, share what concerns you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and determine if therapy could benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange a preliminary assessment appointment in Burghley Park, Stamford or Hitchin.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy focuses on how your thoughts affect your emotions and behaviour. It identifies and addresses negative ideas that maintain the problems you experience. The objective of CBT is for you to experience healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates CBT for alcohol dependence, bipolar disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and self harm.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide which issue concerning your early years or adulthood you explore. An aim of counselling is to help you to talk about a problem and discover a way forward which is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

DBT evaluates your perception of your thoughts and emotions. It facilitates your discovery of useful reactions to your life. DBT hopes to help you improve and continue your coping abilities.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates DBT for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you confront. It considers your thoughts, feelings and relevant moments in your history. Psychotherapy intends to help you change or discover appropriate ways of coping.

Easy to talk toHelpfulnessValue for Money

"I found Philip to be both very easy to talk to, and an excellent source of advice. He was able to draw upon his experience as a therapist, to support and guide me towards solutions to problems that I had been experiencing with low self esteem and anxiety since I had left school."
