What to Expect

An initial assessment meeting allows you to see if you are comfortable with me, share what troubles you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and decide if therapy could benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an introductory assessment appointment in Beckenham.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy concentrates on how your thoughts influence your feelings and actions. It recognises and addresses negative thoughts that maintain the problems you encounter. The objective of CBT is for you to experience healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates cognitive behavioural therapy for bipolar disorder, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder and social anxiety disorder.

Counselling

(1 Review)
Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide which issue concerning your childhood or adult life you explore. An aim of counselling is to enable you to talk about a difficulty and discover a way forward that is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Easy to talk toHelpfulnessValue for Money

"I found my sessions with Pauline most helpful, with her sensitive and gentle ways of enabling me to clear some of the clutter in my mind, by talking through them. I had a number of different pressures on me when I started our sessions, and Pauline helped me to find perspective and to work on my solutions. There are still other things on my mind to deal with, and I will certainly contact Pauline to help me in the future."
