More Detail

6+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Hello. I am Michael O'Brien. I'm a registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I assist individuals with their emotional health. I have private and public sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My interest includes abuse, and the specific issues faced by men and women.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment session allows you to see if you feel comfortable with me, share what worries you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and decide if therapy may help you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an initial assessment appointment in Gedling, Nottingham or Nottingham.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You determine which issue regarding your early years or adult life you explore. An objective of counselling is to enable you to talk about a difficulty and find a way forward that is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the difficulties you face. It explores your thoughts, emotions and relevant events in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you change or find appropriate ways of coping.
