Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide what issue regarding your early years and/or adult life you discuss. An objective of counselling is to help you to talk about a problem and discover a way forward that is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR directs your eye movements to stimulate how your mind processes information. The technique endeavours to reprocess your locked distressing recollections. The objective of EMDR is to desensitise your painful memories.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates EMDR for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy focuses on the unconscious causes of the issues you experience. It facilitates you in becoming conscious of parts of your internal dynamics. Psychodynamic therapy aims to increase your self-understanding to give you choices.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests psychodynamic therapy for depression and self harm.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the difficulties you confront. It explores your thoughts, feelings and significant moments in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you change or find suitable ways of managing.

Thoughts on Mental Health

Of course things could be worse. But how does that help how this person is feeling right now? Think about how you would feel hearing something before you say it. Maybe you feel like you know how to resolve someone else's difficulties, even when you aren't too sure how to handle your own. To offer advice might feel like what is required, helpful and supportive of you. However, you are not the person who is struggling and what might be right for you, may be far from right for someone else.

Easy to talk toHelpfulnessValue for Money

"Calm and easy to talk to and even though I cannot get to meetings with her as my work is not allowing it at the moment, I find myself still thinking what would Melanie say to me about that. She has left a massive impression on me and I wish I could continue to see her. Hopefully in the future I will, as her sessions were extremely valuable to me in helping me on many issues."
