More Detail

12+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Hello. I am Maya Patricia. I'm a registered dramatherapist and an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I assist individuals and couples with their emotional health. I hold private sector experience as a dramatherapist and a counsellor and psychotherapist. My focus includes Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), as well as the specific obstacles experienced by women.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment appointment helps you to discover if you are comfortable with me, discuss what worries you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and determine if therapy could benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to book an introductory assessment session in South Norwood, London or Huthwaite, Sutton-in-Ashfield.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy focuses on how your thoughts influence your feelings and behaviour. It identifies and challenges negative thoughts that maintain the problems you encounter. The objective of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to have healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates CBT for alcohol dependence, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and self harm.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You decide which matter concerning your childhood and/or adulthood you explore. The aim of counselling is to help you to talk about a difficulty and discover a way forward that is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical behaviour therapy evaluates your perception of your ideas and feelings. It encourages your discovery of helpful reactions to your life. DBT hopes to help you improve and continue your coping skills.

Drama Therapy

Drama therapy helps you express yourself via drama and myths. There is no requirement for you to possess skills in acting. Drama therapy aims to help you create psychological growth.

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR directs your eye motions to affect how your brain processes data. The procedure endeavours to reprocess your frozen traumatic memories. The objective of EMDR is to desensitise your painful memories.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates eye movement desensitisation reprocessing for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the difficulties you face. It considers your ideas, emotions and relevant events in your history. Psychotherapy intends to help you change or discover appropriate ways of coping.
