What to Expect

A preliminary assessment meeting enables you to see if you are comfortable with me, discuss what troubles you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and determine if therapy may assist you. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT concentrates on how your thoughts (cognitions) affect your feelings and actions. It recognises and addresses negative ideas that maintain the problems you experience. The aim of CBT is for you to experience healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends cognitive behavioural therapy for bipolar disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), bulimia nervosa, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self harm and social anxiety disorder.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide what issue concerning your childhood or adult life you discuss. An aim of counselling is to help you to speak about a problem and find a way forward that is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Integrative Therapy

Integrative therapy combines therapies to fit your needs and the problems you experience. It explores your personal experience and choices. The aim of integrative therapy is to help you advance your self-awareness.
