More Detail

3+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Hello. I'm Lorraine. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I support individuals and couples with their emotional health. I hold private and voluntary sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My focus involves stress, and the particular problems encountered by women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment meeting allows you to see if you are comfortable with me, discuss what worries you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and decide if therapy may assist you. Please use a contact option on the right to book an initial assessment meeting in Harrow or Harrow.

Client Centred Therapy

Client centred therapy focuses on understanding and supporting you. It facilitates your openness around the concerns you experience. Client centred therapy seeks to help you discover your own solutions.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT concentrates on how your thoughts influence your feelings and actions. It identifies and challenges unhelpful thoughts that perpetuate the problems you encounter. The aim of CBT is for you to experience healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates cognitive behavioural therapy for alcohol dependence, anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bipolar disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), bulimia nervosa, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and self harm.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You decide which issue concerning your childhood or adulthood you discuss. The objective of counselling is to help you to talk about a difficulty and find a solution which is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the difficulties you face. It explores your thoughts, feelings and significant events in your history. Psychotherapy intends to help you change or find suitable methods of coping.
