Welcome. I am Linda K Berkeley. What to Expect

An introductory assessment session allows you to discover if you are comfortable with me, discuss what concerns you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and assess if therapy may assist you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an initial assessment appointment in Lambourn, Hungerford.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT concentrates on how your thoughts (cognitions) influence your emotions and actions. It recognises and addresses unhelpful thoughts which perpetuate the problems you experience. The objective of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to experience healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends CBT for alcohol dependence, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self harm and social anxiety disorder.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You determine what matter concerning your childhood and/or adult life you discuss. An objective of counselling is to help you to talk about a problem and find a way forward that is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you confront. It explores your thoughts, emotions and relevant events in your history. Psychotherapy aims to help you change or discover appropriate methods of managing.
