Welcome. I'm Lesley Aitcheson. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I assist individuals with their emotional wellbeing. What to Expect

An introductory assessment meeting helps you to discover if you are comfortable with me, discuss what concerns you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and assess if therapy could help you. Please use a contact option on the right to book a preliminary assessment appointment in West End, London.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You determine which matter concerning your early years and/or adulthood you discuss. An objective of counselling is to enable you to talk about a problem and find a solution which is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy focuses on the unconscious meaning of the issues you encounter. It facilitates you in being aware of parts of your inner dynamics. Psychodynamic therapy aims to increase your self-understanding to give you options.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates psychodynamic therapy for anorexia nervosa, depression, self harm and social anxiety disorder.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you confront. It explores your thoughts, emotions and significant moments in your history. Psychotherapy intends to help you develop or find suitable methods of managing.

Thoughts on Mental Health

The first thing to know is that the stigma around mental health in general, and schizophrenia specifically, is gradually reducing and it's vital to ask for help when you need it. Mental illness is not your fault and it's likely you will not be ill all the time. People usually find that they experience a range of symptoms and have degrees of feeling well and less well over time.
