More Detail

15+ Years Post-Chartership Experience

Welcome. I am Kirsten Heynisch. I'm a chartered and registered clinical psychologist - I help individuals and couples with their psychological wellbeing. I have private, public and voluntary sector experience as a clinical psychologist. My focus includes relationship problems, as well as the specific problems experienced by business men and women.

What to Expect

A preliminary assessment session allows you to see if you feel comfortable with me, share what troubles you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and decide if therapy may benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an initial assessment meeting in Chesham.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy concentrates on how your thoughts affect your feelings and actions. It recognises and challenges negative ideas that maintain the problems you encounter. The objective of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to have healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates CBT for alcohol dependence, anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bipolar disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), bulimia nervosa, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia, self harm and social anxiety disorder.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You decide what matter regarding your childhood or adult life you explore. An objective of counselling is to help you to talk about a problem and discover a way forward which is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT)

Mentalisation is the ability to understand yourself and others. MBT seeks to help you improve your understanding, so you and your relationships are more stable.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends mentalisation based therapy for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).

Psychology

Psychology is interested in you and your mind, feelings and behaviour. It offers you psychological interventions and mental wellbeing support. The intention of psychological therapy is to help you alleviate symptoms.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the difficulties you face. It considers your thoughts, feelings and relevant events in your history. Psychotherapy intends to help you change or find suitable ways of managing.
