What to Expect

A preliminary assessment appointment allows you to see if you are comfortable with me, discuss what troubles you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and decide if therapy could assist you. Please use a contact option on the right to book a preliminary assessment session in Pilgrims Hatch, Brentwood.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy concentrates on how your thoughts (cognitions) influence your emotions and behaviour. It identifies and addresses negative thoughts that perpetuate the issues you experience. The objective of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to experience healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates CBT for bipolar disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and social anxiety disorder.

(1 Review)
Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide what issue regarding your childhood or adult life you discuss. The objective of counselling is to help you to speak about a difficulty and discover a solution which is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the difficulties you face. It explores your ideas, feelings and relevant events in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you change or discover appropriate methods of managing.
