9+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Welcome. I'm Khalida Sheikh. I'm a registered psychotherapeutic counsellor - I assist individuals with their emotional health. I hold private and public sector experience as a psychotherapeutic counsellor. My interest includes Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), as well as the specific issues faced by women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment meeting helps you to discover if you are comfortable with me, discuss what troubles you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and decide if therapy could help you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an initial assessment meeting in Bingley or Heaton, Bradford.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You determine what issue concerning your childhood or adult life you explore. An aim of counselling is to help you to speak about a difficulty and discover a way forward that is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye movement desensitisation reprocessing directs your eye motions to stimulate how your mind processes data. The procedure endeavours to reprocess your frozen distressing recollections. The aim of eye movement desensitisation reprocessing is to desensitise your upsetting memories.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends eye movement desensitisation reprocessing for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Psychoanalytic Therapy

Psychoanalytic therapy focuses on the unconscious meaning of the problems you experience. It facilitates your consciousness of parts of your unconscious. The aim of psychoanalytic therapy is for you to gain personal insight and utilise it if you decide to.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the difficulties you confront. It considers your ideas, feelings and relevant moments in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you develop or discover appropriate methods of coping.
