More Detail

7+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Hi. I am Juliet. I'm a registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I assist individuals and couples with their emotional wellbeing. I have private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My focus involves depression, relationship problems and stress, and the particular obstacles experienced by men and women.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment meeting helps you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what worries you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and assess if therapy may assist you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an introductory assessment meeting in Exeter.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Acceptance and commitment therapy focuses on your reactions to your emotions. It fosters your acceptance of your bodily sensations. Acceptance and commitment therapy aims to help you commit yourself to useful change.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy focuses on how your thoughts influence your emotions and behaviour. It recognises and addresses negative thoughts that perpetuate the problems you experience. The aim of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to have healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests CBT for depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and self harm.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide what matter regarding your childhood and/or adult life you discuss. The objective of counselling is to enable you to speak about a difficulty and discover a way forward which is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

DBT evaluates your understanding of your ideas and emotions. It facilitates your finding of useful responses to your life. Dialectical behaviour therapy intends to help you enhance and continue your coping abilities.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you face. It considers your thoughts, feelings and relevant moments in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you develop or find appropriate methods of coping.
