More Detail

6 Years Post-Registration Experience

Welcome. I'm Julie. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor - I assist individuals and couples with their mental wellbeing. I hold private and voluntary sector experience as a counsellor. My focus includes bereavement, depression and self esteem, and the particular challenges experienced by men and women.

What to Expect

A preliminary assessment appointment enables you to see if you are comfortable with me, discuss what concerns you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and determine if therapy could assist you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an initial assessment meeting in Benfleet.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT concentrates on how your thoughts (cognitions) affect your feelings and behaviour. It recognises and challenges unhelpful thoughts which perpetuate the issues you encounter. The objective of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to have healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends CBT for Binge Eating Disorder (BED), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and self harm.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You determine which issue concerning your early years and/or adult life you explore. An objective of counselling is to help you to speak about a problem and discover a way forward which is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Transactional Analysis (TA)

Transactional analysis centres on the roles you use to communicate with yourself and others. It explores the effect of your pre-conscious life strategy and how to enhance it. TA aims to help you recognise your worth and ability to grow.
