More Detail

16+ Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Hi. I'm Julie. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I assist individuals and couples with their psychological health. I have private and public sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My interest includes bereavement, relationship problems and stress, as well as the particular obstacles encountered by men, transgender people and women.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment appointment allows you to discover if you are comfortable with me, discuss what troubles you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and determine if therapy could benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange a preliminary assessment session in City of London, London, Barbican, London, Kings Cross, London or Leytonstone, London.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy focuses on how your thoughts (cognitions) influence your emotions and behaviour. It recognises and addresses negative thoughts which maintain the problems you experience. The objective of CBT is for you to have healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests CBT for anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bipolar disorder, bulimia nervosa, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self harm and social anxiety disorder.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You decide what matter concerning your childhood and/or adult life you explore. An objective of counselling is to enable you to talk about a problem and find a way forward that is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you confront. It considers your ideas, emotions and significant events in your life. Psychotherapy intends to help you develop or find suitable methods of managing.

Transactional Analysis (TA)

TA centres on the modes you use to communicate with yourself and people. It explores the impact of your pre-conscious life plan and how to improve it. TA aims to help you acknowledge your value and ability to change.
