9+ Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Hi. I am Julia. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I help individuals with their psychological wellbeing. I have private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My interest includes depression, as well as the particular difficulties encountered by mixed ethnic background women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment appointment allows you to see if you are comfortable with me, discuss what worries you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and decide if therapy could benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to book an introductory assessment session in Kingston Upon Thames.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on how your thoughts affect your feelings and actions. It recognises and challenges negative ideas which maintain the issues you experience. The aim of CBT is for you to experience healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends CBT for alcohol dependence, anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bulimia nervosa, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and self harm.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You determine which issue regarding your childhood or adult life you explore. The aim of counselling is to enable you to speak about a problem and discover a way forward which is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Integrative Therapy

Integrative therapy combines therapies to suit your needs and the issues you encounter. It considers your subjective experiences and options. An aim of integrative therapy is to help you advance your self-understanding.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the problems you confront. It explores your ideas, feelings and relevant events in your history. Psychotherapy aims to help you develop or find appropriate methods of managing.
