3+ Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Hi. I'm Julia. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I support individuals and couples with their emotional health. I have private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My interest includes depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and relationship problems, as well as the particular issues faced by men and women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment session allows you to see if you feel comfortable with me, share what concerns you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and decide if therapy could benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an initial assessment session in East Farleigh, Maidstone.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy concentrates on how your thoughts influence your emotions and behaviour. It identifies and challenges negative thoughts that maintain the problems you encounter. The aim of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to experience healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests CBT for alcohol dependence, anorexia nervosa, bipolar disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self harm and social anxiety disorder.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide which issue regarding your early years and/or adult life you discuss. The aim of counselling is to help you to talk about a difficulty and find a solution which is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye movement desensitisation reprocessing directs your eye motions to stimulate how your mind processes information. The technique endeavours to reprocess your frozen distressing memories. The aim of EMDR is to desensitise your upsetting memories.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends eye movement desensitisation reprocessing for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Humanistic Therapy

Humanistic therapy centres on appreciating you. It considers you as a whole human being and prioritises your personal development. Humanistic therapy seeks to help you realise your freedom.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the difficulties you face. It explores your thoughts, feelings and significant events in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you change or discover suitable ways of coping.
