More Detail

6+ Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Hi. I'm John Harrison. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I support individuals with their mental wellbeing. I hold private, public and voluntary sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist.

What to Expect

A preliminary assessment session allows you to discover if you are comfortable with me, discuss what concerns you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and determine if therapy may benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an introductory assessment appointment in Dagenham or Romford, Hornchurch.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You determine what matter concerning your early years or adult life you discuss. The aim of counselling is to help you to talk about a difficulty and find a solution that is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT)

Dynamic interpersonal therapy focuses on your unconscious pattern of relating to others. It identifies the link between your particular pattern and the interpersonal difficulty you experience. The intention of dynamic interpersonal therapy is to help you enhance your interpersonal know-how.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy centres on the unconscious causes of the problems you experience. It facilitates you in being aware of parts of your internal dynamics. Psychodynamic therapy seeks to increase your self-understanding to give you choices.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests psychodynamic therapy for anorexia nervosa, depression and self harm.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you confront. It considers your ideas, feelings and relevant moments in your history. Psychotherapy aims to help you change or find appropriate methods of managing.
