More Detail

12+ Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Hello. I am Jayne. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I assist individuals and couples with their psychological health. I hold private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My interest involves abuse, and the particular problems faced by women.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment meeting enables you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, share what worries you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and decide if therapy may benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an introductory assessment session in Hove.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You determine what matter regarding your early years and/or adult life you explore. The objective of counselling is to enable you to talk about a difficulty and discover a solution which is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR guides your eye movements to affect how your mind processes information. The technique endeavours to reprocess your frozen distressing recollections. The objective of eye movement desensitisation reprocessing is to desensitise your painful memories.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates eye movement desensitisation reprocessing for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Integrative Therapy

Integrative therapy selects therapies to suit your needs and the problems you encounter. It explores your subjective experience and options. The aim of integrative therapy is to help you develop your self-awareness.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the difficulties you confront. It explores your ideas, feelings and relevant events in your history. Psychotherapy intends to help you develop or find appropriate ways of managing.

Thoughts on Mental Health

If you experienced your parents as unpredictable and extreme, maybe sometimes a bit too much and, at other times, absent or uncaring; or they were negligent, pre-occupied or abusive, whilst also demonstrating caring behaviours, it is bound to affect how you learn about yourself, relationships and the world. It can be helpful to understand that struggles you experience in adult life can be a result of difficulties you experienced as a child.
