More Detail

2+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Hello. I'm Jane. I'm a registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I support individuals and couples with their psychological wellbeing. I have private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My interest includes depression, and the particular challenges experienced by men and women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment session allows you to see if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what concerns you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and decide if therapy could help you. Please use a contact option on the right to book an initial assessment appointment in Thorney, Langport.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on how your thoughts (cognitions) influence your feelings and behaviour. It recognises and challenges unhelpful thoughts that perpetuate the problems you experience. The objective of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to have healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests CBT for anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bulimia nervosa, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self harm and social anxiety disorder.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You determine what issue concerning your early years or adulthood you discuss. An aim of counselling is to help you to talk about a difficulty and find a solution that is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the problems you face. It explores your ideas, emotions and significant moments in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you change or find appropriate methods of coping.
