More Detail

3+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Hello. I am Jan Ellis. I'm a registered counsellor - I support individuals and couples with their psychological wellbeing. I have private and public sector experience as a counsellor. My focus includes relationship problems, as well as the specific challenges faced by men and women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment session enables you to see if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what concerns you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and decide if therapy may benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an initial assessment session in Brynmill, Swansea or Port Talbot.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on how your thoughts affect your emotions and behaviour. It recognises and challenges unhelpful ideas that maintain the issues you encounter. The aim of CBT is for you to experience healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends CBT for alcohol dependence, bipolar disorder, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia, self harm and social anxiety disorder.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide which issue concerning your early years or adult life you explore. The aim of counselling is to enable you to talk about a problem and find a solution which is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy centres on the unconscious causes of the issues you encounter. It facilitates you in becoming aware of aspects of your internal dynamics. Psychodynamic therapy seeks to increase your self-understanding to give you options.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends psychodynamic therapy for depression, self harm and social anxiety disorder.

Relational Therapy

Relational therapy focuses on how you relate with people. It facilitates your honesty about the problems you experience. An objective of relational therapy is to help you identify beneficial ways of communicating.
