More Detail

19+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Welcome. I'm Hilary. I'm a registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I help individuals with their psychological health. I have private and voluntary sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My focus includes abuse, depression and relationship problems, and the specific obstacles experienced by gay and mixed ethnic background men and women.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment meeting allows you to see if you feel comfortable with me, share what troubles you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and assess if therapy could help you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange a preliminary assessment appointment in Totnes.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You determine which matter regarding your early years and/or adult life you explore. An aim of counselling is to help you to speak about a difficulty and find a way forward that is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Integrative Therapy

Integrative therapy selects therapies to suit your preferences and the issues you encounter. It considers your subjective experience and options. An aim of integrative therapy is to help you develop your self-understanding.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the difficulties you confront. It explores your thoughts, feelings and relevant moments in your history. Psychotherapy intends to help you change or find appropriate ways of coping.
