What to Expect

An initial assessment appointment allows you to see if you feel comfortable with me, share what troubles you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and determine if therapy may assist you. Please use a contact option on the right to book an introductory assessment appointment in Loughborough.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy concentrates on how your thoughts influence your feelings and behaviour. It identifies and addresses negative thoughts which maintain the issues you experience. The objective of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to have healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends CBT for alcohol dependence, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and social anxiety disorder.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You decide which matter concerning your early years or adulthood you discuss. An aim of counselling is to help you to talk about a difficulty and find a way forward which is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you face. It explores your thoughts, emotions and significant events in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you develop or discover appropriate methods of coping.
