14+ Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Hello. I'm Fatima Fernandes. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I assist individuals and couples with their emotional wellbeing. I have private and voluntary sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My interest includes Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), as well as the particular issues faced by mixed ethnic background women.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment meeting enables you to discover if you are comfortable with me, share what concerns you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and determine if therapy could benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to book a preliminary assessment meeting in Mansion House, London or Kilburn, London.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You determine which issue concerning your early years and/or adult life you discuss. An aim of counselling is to help you to talk about a problem and find a way forward which is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye movement desensitisation reprocessing guides your eye movements to affect how your mind processes data. The technique endeavours to reprocess your locked traumatic memories. The objective of eye movement desensitisation reprocessing is to desensitise your painful memories.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends eye movement desensitisation reprocessing for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Integrative Therapy

Integrative therapy combines therapeutic approaches to fit your needs and the problems you encounter. It explores your subjective experiences and options. The aim of integrative therapy is to help you develop your self-understanding.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the difficulties you face. It explores your thoughts, feelings and relevant events in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you develop or discover suitable ways of managing.
