3+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Hello. I'm Emma Thompson. I'm a registered counsellor - I assist individuals with their mental health. I have private and voluntary sector experience as a counsellor. My focus includes Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and self esteem, and the particular obstacles encountered by women.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment meeting helps you to see if you feel comfortable with me, share what troubles you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and determine if therapy may benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an introductory assessment meeting in Sittingbourne.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You determine which issue concerning your childhood and/or adult life you discuss. An aim of counselling is to enable you to speak about a difficulty and find a solution which is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Integrative Therapy

(1 Review)
Integrative therapy selects therapeutic approaches to suit your preferences and the issues you experience. It explores your personal experiences and choices. The aim of integrative therapy is to help you advance your self-understanding.

Thoughts on Mental Health

I think one of the worst things to say is anything that begins with 'You just have to...' For someone with mental health problems, 'just...' could seem insurmountable. It's also a very patronising message and blames the person for their problems.
