6+ Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Welcome. I'm Edith. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I help individuals and couples with their psychological wellbeing. I hold private and public sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist.

What to Expect

A preliminary assessment appointment allows you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what concerns you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and assess if therapy may help you. Please use a contact option on the right to book an introductory assessment session in Lisburn.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy focuses on how your thoughts (cognitions) affect your feelings and actions. It identifies and addresses negative thoughts that perpetuate the issues you experience. The aim of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to experience healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates cognitive behavioural therapy for alcohol dependence, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and self harm.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You determine which issue regarding your early years or adulthood you explore. An objective of counselling is to help you to talk about a difficulty and discover a way forward that is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the difficulties you confront. It explores your ideas, emotions and significant moments in your history. Psychotherapy intends to help you develop or find appropriate methods of coping.

Systemic Therapy

Systemic therapy concentrates on the system of interactions between you and others. It addresses the interactions which perpetuate the interpersonal conflicts you encounter. Systemic therapy intends to help you enhance how you interact with people.
