1+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Welcome. I'm Tom. I'm a registered psychotherapist - I help individuals and couples with their psychological health. I hold private sector experience as a psychotherapist. My interest includes anger, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), self esteem and stress, and the specific challenges experienced by men and women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment meeting helps you to see if you are comfortable with me, share what troubles you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and assess if therapy may help you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an initial assessment meeting in Colchester or Colchester.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT concentrates on how your thoughts (cognitions) influence your feelings and behaviour. It recognises and addresses unhelpful thoughts which perpetuate the problems you encounter. The objective of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to have healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates CBT for alcohol dependence, anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bipolar disorder, bulimia nervosa, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self harm and social anxiety disorder.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide what issue concerning your childhood and/or adult life you explore. The objective of counselling is to enable you to talk about a difficulty and find a way forward that is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Existential Therapy

Existential therapy explores how you perceive your existence. It encompasses reflection on your viewpoints, capacities and options. Existential therapy seeks to help you find significance in your life and the issues you encounter.

Integrative Therapy

Integrative therapy selects therapies to suit your preferences and the problems you encounter. It considers your personal experiences and choices. An aim of integrative therapy is to help you advance your self-understanding.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you confront. It considers your ideas, feelings and relevant moments in your history. Psychotherapy intends to help you change or discover appropriate methods of managing.
