What to Expect

An introductory assessment session enables you to see if you are comfortable with me, share what concerns you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and decide if therapy may help you. Please use a contact option on the right to book a preliminary assessment session in Coulsdon or Banstead.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy concentrates on how your thoughts (cognitions) influence your feelings and behaviour. It identifies and addresses unhelpful thoughts which perpetuate the problems you encounter. The objective of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to experience healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates cognitive behavioural therapy for alcohol dependence, anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bipolar disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), bulimia nervosa, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia and self harm.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy focuses on the unconscious causes of the problems you experience. It facilitates you in being conscious of aspects of your internal dynamics. Psychodynamic therapy aims to increase your self-comprehension to give you choices.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends psychodynamic therapy for anorexia nervosa, depression and self harm.

Psychology is interested in you and your mind, emotions and behaviour. It offers you psychological treatments and mental health support. The intention of psychological therapy is to help you alleviate symptoms.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the difficulties you confront. It explores your thoughts, emotions and significant moments in your life. Psychotherapy intends to help you change or discover suitable methods of managing.

Systemic Therapy

Systemic therapy concentrates on the system of interactions between you and people. It identifies the interactions which perpetuate the interpersonal conflicts you experience. Systemic therapy intends to help you enhance how you communicate with others.
