More Detail

11+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Hi. I'm Dr Oby. I'm a registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I help individuals and couples with their mental health. I have private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My interest includes relationship problems, as well as the particular issues faced by heterosexual women.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment appointment allows you to discover if you are comfortable with me, discuss what troubles you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and assess if therapy may assist you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange a preliminary assessment meeting in Romford.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy focuses on how your thoughts influence your emotions and actions. It identifies and challenges negative thoughts that maintain the issues you experience. The objective of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to experience healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests cognitive behavioural therapy for alcohol dependence, anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bipolar disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), bulimia nervosa, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia, self harm and social anxiety disorder.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide which issue regarding your childhood or adult life you explore. The objective of counselling is to help you to talk about a difficulty and find a solution which is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the difficulties you face. It considers your ideas, feelings and relevant moments in your history. Psychotherapy intends to help you change or discover appropriate ways of coping.
